New railway line (NBS) Ebensfeld-Erfurt: sections in Bavaria (BA 3121 Füllbachtal bridge, BA 3122 Fornbach bridge)

Programme:

This project is an important element of Priority Project 1, railway axis Berlin-Verona/Milano-Bologna-Napoli-Messina-Palermo. It was earmarked as one of the priority transport projects following the German reunification.

The construction of the two bridges is part of a new railway line which cuts across the mountains situated between the former East and West Germany. The railway tracks are being successively built through several tunnels and over bridges. The 107 km long section between Erfurt and Ebensfeld will follow a shorter alignment than the existing line and will finalise the high-speed line between Berlin and Munich.
