Innovation and Networks Executive Agency

Rail 2012-BE-91160-P

INEA ceased operations on 31 March 2021. The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) was established on 1 April 2021 to take over its legacy portfolio as well as additional EU funding programmes.

The elimination of bottlenecks due to level crossings on the TEN-T network in Belgium

Programme:

The Action consisted of the removal of 11 level crossings and the creation of replacement infrastructure on the Belgian TEN-T network.

It contributed to the following objectives of the Global Project:

  • Capacity increase as a result of the removal of bottlenecks
  • Reduction in the number of accidents, fatalities, and injuries at level crossings
  • Reduction in the number of registered minutes incurring traffic disturbance for railways
  • Reduction of the costs of the maintenance and renewal of level crossings

As a result of the conflict-free crossings, the removal of the above-mentioned level crossings also allowed an overall increase in rail and road traffic.

The Action is closed.

EU contribution: €1,165,900
