RIS 2012-BE-70001-P

Implementation of RIS in Flanders IV

Programme:

This Action was part of a Global Project aiming to implement RIS in Flanders, in line with the RIS Framework Directive (2005/44/EC) and followed from three previous RIS TEN-T funded projects (2008-BE-30000-P, 2010-BE-70202-P, 2011-BE-70001-P). The objective of the Global Project was to contribute to making inland navigation a safer and more efficient mode of freight transport.

The work carried out prior to this Action focused on setting the basic building blocks for developing an extensive set of RIS services and applications in Flanders and then adding specific applications and optimised RIS-related processes. This Action aimed to connect existing RIS applications to the 'backbone structure' of RIS Flanders (FlaRIS) but also to extend the range of available RIS services and applications and make them available to a wider public. Through the activities of this project:

  • A foundation of more robust and better performing RIS environment was placed, also accessible from on the field with mobile devices.
  • Foundations were laid to drive lock planning in Flanders to a higher and more interactive level.
  • Targeted users are more aware of the range of River Information Services at their disposal.

The Action is closed.
