Additional studies in the Seine-Scheldt network in Flanders

The Global Project is the development of the Seine Scheldt network. A large project in this development is Priority Project 30, inland waterway Seine–Scheldt, as listed in the Decision no 661/2010/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council. The main objectives of the Global Project is to optimise the connection between the French inland waterway network and ports and the Belgian, Dutch and German networks and ports. The main works of the Seine–Scheldt project are the construction of a new canal Seine–Nord Europe in France and the improvement of the waterway network between Paris and Ghent. In Flanders (Belgium) several construction works are being carried out since 2007, mostly in the northern part of the project, i.e. on the Ghent Circular Canal.

The Action contributed to the two following studies:

  • Study of the future perspective of the canals Roeselare-Lys and Bossuit-Kortrijk
  • Study of the bottleneck on the canal Roeselare-Lys caused by the bridge of Ingelmunster.
