Increase of under bridge-clearance on the Walloon section of Seine-Scheldt (PP-30) waterway network in order to allow continuous passage of containerships with up to three layers

Programme:

The main objectives of the Global Project is to raise the navigability of the "Walloon waterways corridor" from the French border to the Meuse river basin to the navigability class Va.

Demand on the Seine-Scheldt waterway network is projected in the long term to grow. One of the objectives of the global project is to upgrade the gauge of the Walloon waterway network up to class Va. The current clearance under bridges allows the passage of two layers containers ships only and the aim is to allow at least three layer convoys. The main objective of this Action is to rebuild two bridges and to raise an existing footbridge, all to a minimal bridge under clearance of 7m for the passage of three layer containers.

This project has been completed except for the reconstruction of the bridge and lifting of a pedestrian bridge in Luttres which are  expected in 2017.
