Construction and elevation of railway bridges (HST lines 25 and 27) over the Nete river

Programme:

Waterwegen en Zeekanaal NV, the Flemish waterway authority, has requested to build a new bridge at a height that will ensure a clearance of 7 meters and to raise a second bridge to the same level. This will ensure that vessels with three layers of containers can safely transit, thus promoting inland shipping in the area. The increased volume of container traffic will in turn generate higher economic returns and contribute to making inland shipping more competitive in relation to road transport.

This Action contains the most important activities of the first phase of the works. The activities included are the construction of a supporting wall at Duffel on line 25, the construction of the second supporting wall and the road construction at Duffel on line 25, structural works on the new railway bridge over the Nete on line 27, and railway, overhead wire and signal works for the construction of the provisional lines between the railway station of Duffel and the Nete bridges.
