Works for the modernisation of the cross border section Salzburg–German border
The aim of this project is the removal of an important bottleneck located in a cross-border section on the Priority Project 17 railway axis Paris-Strasbourg-Stuttgart-Wien-Bratislava.
The project covers a 6 km section between Freilassing and Salzburg on the German/Austrian border where only two tracks are currently available to service local and long distance traffic.
The Action foresees construction of a third track on the 5 km of Austrian territory. It includes renovating or replacing all bridges in the section - in particular the bridge crossing the Salzach River. The overall technical standards for communication, security and catenaries of the track will also be upgraded.
The action is closed.
