Creation date: October 12, 2017
The European Cyber Security Month is the EU’s annual awareness campaign that takes place each October across Europe. The aim is to raise awareness of cyber security threats, promote cyber security among citizens and organizations; and provide resources to protect themselves online, through education and sharing of good practices.
Are you Cyber aware?
Ransomware attacks have increased by 300% since 2015 and according to several studies, the economic impact of cybercrime rose fivefold from 2013 to 2017. Despite this growing threat, awareness and knowledge of cybersecurity is still insufficient.
- 69% if companies have no or basic understanding of their exposure to risks
- 60% of companies have never estimated the potential losses from a major cyber-attack
- 51% of European citizens feel not at all about cyber threats
INEA and Cyber Security
INEA has organised two Cyber Security call for proposals, one in 2016 and a second one that closed on 21 September this year. Fourteen proposals were selected from the 2016 call while the evaluation of the 2017 call is currently taking place. All in all, the projects will enhance the Member States cyber security capacities and will equip them with better tools for analysis, identification, and detection of threats.
