New brochure presenting the CEF Energy programme is now online!

INEA ceased operations on 31 March 2021. The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) was established on 1 April 2021 to take over its legacy portfolio as well as additional EU funding programmes.

Creation date: June 4, 2020

INEA has released a new 'CEF Energy - Supported Actions' brochure that provides an overview and insight into its current portfolio in energy infrastructure receiving €3.7 billion of EU funding. The publication gives an overview of all 139 actions co-funded until May 2020, including the key features of the programme and a breakdown by sector.

The Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) is a flagship funding programme with a key role in supporting the European Commission’s priorities related to smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, and the EU’s Europe 2020 Strategy objectives in the area of energy and climate policy. Since its launch in January 2014, the CEF has been supporting the development of high performing, sustainable and efficiently interconnected trans-European networks in the areas of transport, energy and telecommunications.

In the energy sector, the programme supports the implementation of key infrastructure projects of common interest (PCIs) in electricity, gas, smart grids and cross-border carbon dioxide networks. CEF funding for PCIs contributes to promote further integration of the internal energy market, enhance the security of energy supply and integrate energy from renewable sources into the network.

The results presented in the brochure show that the CEF programme delivers on its objectives and provides added value for the completion of the European energy network.
