The fourth and final WiFi4EU call for applications took place from 3 to 4 June 2020. More than 8,600 municipalities across Europe have applied for a €15,000 voucher.
With a call budget of EUR 14.2 million, the Commission will distribute 947 vouchers across European municipalities to set up a free Wi-Fi network in public spaces.

The response from municipalities has been impressive: The European Commission has received over 850 applications in the first second of the opening of the call and over 3000 in the first 5 seconds, following the success of previous calls. By the closure of the application period on 4 June, the Commission had received over 8,600 applications from all participating countries out of the 27,000 registered municipalities. The number of applications is more than 9 times the amount of vouchers available.
