Know CEF Telecom inside out with this new brochure

INEA ceased operations on 31 March 2021. The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) was established on 1 April 2021 to take over its legacy portfolio as well as additional EU funding programmes.

Creation date: January 8, 2021

INEA has published a new CEF Telecom brochure which presents an overview of the actions co-funded by CEF Telecom until the end of November 2020, including the status of each specific Digital Service Infrastructure (DSI) and a breakdown by country. Over the last seven years (2014-2020), 74 calls for proposals have been published awarding, so far, €308 million to 571 projects. The brochure also covers the WiFi4EU initiative which has distributed more than 8,800 vouchers between 2018 and 2020.

CEF Telecom

Since  its  launch  in  2013,  the Connecting  Europe  Facility (CEF) has been a key  funding instrument supporting the development of high performing, sustainable and efficiently interconnected trans-European networks in the areas of transport, energy and telecommunications.

In the area of telecommunications, the deployment of Digital Service Infrastructures  (DSIs)  supports the development and smooth functioning of the Digital Single Market by facilitating delivery of trans-European digital services for citizens,  business  and/or  governments, and supporting digital cross-border public services.

Besides, since 2018, the WiFi4EU initiative supports European municipalities that wish to offer free Wi-Fi connectivity in public spaces.

INEA & CEF Telecom

Since 2014, the Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) has been implementing the CEF Programme via grants. For  CEF Telecom DSIs, this includes managing  calls  for  proposals  and  external  evaluations for generic services, and the subsequent technical and financial follow up of the selected actions with the beneficiaries.

The WiFi4EU initiative, where vouchers worth €15,000 are awarded on a "first-come, first-served" basis, is also managed by INEA on behalf of the European Commission.

The brochure presents an overview of the actions supported by INEA, showing how  CEF Telecom  has  paved  the  way  to  the  next generation of ICT projects that will turn the digital transformation into a reality at the service of all Europeans.
