H2020 Energy project WiseGRID wins two prizes at the EUSEW award ceremony

Creation date: June 5, 2018

The WiseGRID  project, which belongs to INEA's Horizon 2020 energy portfolio, celebrated success today at the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW).

It's been named the best projects in the business and citizen's choice categories, winning two EU Sustainable Energy Awards. The prizes recognise outstanding innovation in energy efficiency and renewables.

WiseGRID develops a set of solutions and technologies that increase the smartness, stability and security of an open, consumer-centric European energy grid, with an enhanced use of storage technologies and a highly increased share of RES. The project will have an impact on the business and innovation activities of the consortium and EV sector - with a planned return on investment for the partners of less than 30 months after commercialisation of WiseGRID products and services. The project's four large-scale demos are taking place in Belgium, Italy, Greece and Spain.

The EUSEW awards are not the first to WiseGRID's credit. Last month, the project was chosen as the winner in the Technology and Design category of the Good Practice of the Year award. The prize is presented annually to outstanding practices that show initiative and innovation in integrating renewables into the grid. Jury members found WiseGRID particularly impressive because of its relevance in today’s energy landscape and its likelihood to provide a set of solutions and technologies to increase the smartness, stability and security of an open, consumer-centric European energy grid.
