The report on Europeana, the EU’s digital platform for cultural heritage, was adopted on 6 September confirming future funding, improved scope and focus on capacity building and high quality content & infrastructure to support EU’s cultural sector in the digital age.
The report outlines the results of the independent evaluation of Europeana as a European cultural and digital innovation project as well as the Commission’s vision on the way forward for the future development of Europeana.
The platform currently provides access to over 53 million cultural heritage items, (including image, text, sound, video and 3D material) from the collections of over 3,700 libraries, archives, museums, galleries and audio.
Europeana is one of the Digital Single Infrastructures (DSI) supported by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Telecom. There have been three CEF Telecom Europeana calls until now (2016, 2017 and 2018).
