FLEXCoop introduces an end-to-end automated demand response optimisation framework. It enables the raise of novel business models, allowing energy cooperatives to introduce themselves in energy markets under the role of an aggregator. It equips cooperatives with innovative and highly effective tools to establish robust business practices in order to exploit their microgrids and virtual power plants as balancing and ancillary assets for grid stability.
Optimisation in FLEXCoop applies to multiple levels. It spans local generation output, demand and storage flexibility, as well as the flexibility offered by electric vehicles. It facilitates maximum integration of renewables into the grid, helps to avoid curtailment and to satisfy balancing and ancillary needs of the grid. This is achieved via automated, human-centric demand response schemes with the participation of selected residential prosumers (i.e. consumers who also produce energy).
To enhance prosumer acceptance, the FLEXCoop's innovative services will feature non-intrusiveness, comfort and well-being preservation. The services will not have impact on prosumers' daily schedules and will maximise their benefits through transparent and open participation in markets.
The project will also guarantees easy switching between demand response service providers, vendor lock-in avoidance, customised demand response service contracts, setting objectives and remuneration, thus democratising energy systems and empowering prosumers to become active players in the energy market.
