FLEXCHX

FLEXIBLE COMBINED PRODUCTION OF POWER, HEAT AND TRANSPORT FUELS FROM RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES

FLEXCHX is developing a unique hybrid system in Northern and Central European conditions to address the need to balance seasonal solar energy production, as well as to meet the local demand for heat and power.

The project presents a cost-effective solution tackling the above challenges, while contributing to decarbonising the transport sector through the production of renewable fuels, especially for the heavy industry, such as air traffic, ships and heavy-duty road vehicles.

In particular, FLEXCHX is developing a hybrid process that integrates water electrolysis, biomass gasification and synthesis producing a renewable fuel intermediate (FT-wax). In addition, the plant concept could be widely applied to existing combined heat and power (CHP) plants and heating networks in order to increase their efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
