The Action consists of works to deploy a network of 8 BioLNG/LNG refuelling stations, six of them located along the ScanMed and Mediterranean Corridors and two on the Comprehensive Network. The Action involves the construction of a microliquefaction plant that will enable the production, storage and distribution of BioLNG and LNG to the network of LNG refuelling stations. Additionally, the Action will support the construction of four LNG truck loading bays that will enable the simultaneous reloading of LNG onto four tanker trucks at Panigaglia LNG Terminal, located in the core port of La Spezia.

As a result, the Action will contribute to decarbonising the road transport by strengthening the alternative fuel stations network across Italy, addressing the supply gap in Centre-Southern regions in Italy and further increasing the LNG use in Northern Italy. Moreover, thanks to the production of BioLNG from sustainable sources at the microliquefaction plant, the Action is contributing to the objectives of the European Green Deal.

This Action has been selected in the context of the CEF Blending facility Call, where the CEF support is coupled with a substantial investment by a financial institution.
