Calais is a major transit hub for the transport between continental Europe and the UK which is located on the North Sea-Mediterranean Core Network Corridor. The Action will build a new rail-road combined transport terminal in the Calais area, which will allow semitrailers to access the rail network.

The Action is part of the Global Project of the CargoBeamer group, which aims to establish unaccompanied combined transport services for semi-trailers on some of the major transport routes servicing continental Europe from Calais. The combined transport service will facilitate shifting freight from road to rail and promote the efficiency, sustainability and safety of freight transport.
