The Action concerns the implementation of airborne baseline technical systems that constitute solutions in line with the SESAR key features described in the ATM Master Plan, more precisely, those concerning the final stages of a flight.

In particular, the Action aims to deploy three different capabilities: Required Navigation Performance – Authorisation Required (RNP-AR), Ground Based Augmentation System (GBAS) Landing System (GLS) and Runway Overrun Prevention System (ROPS)in over 60 aircraft.

Implementation of the Action will deliver benefits in terms of improved safety, fuel savings, CO2 emission reductions, increased airspace capacity and avoided flight cancellations due to low visibility, and operating cost savings.

These airborne systems will also anticipate, complement and support further developments that are envisaged for the ground infrastructure in Portugal.
