This Motorways of the Sea Action is located between the Comprehensive Port of Ystad in Sweden and the Core Port of Świnoujście in Poland, on the Baltic-Adriatic and Scandinavian-Mediterranean TEN-T Corridors.

Following the long term growth trend in cargo volume between Sweden and Poland as well as to meet the needs of future demand and environmental requirements, Polferries plans to enlarge fleet capacity and deploy two new larger ferries equipped with LNG system on the Świnoujście-Ystad route within a Global Project.

The Action is a part of the Global Project enabling LNG bunkering on the maritime connection between both ports, and covers investments in new infrastructure for longer ro-pax vessels in the Port of Ystad, the LNG bunkering vessel in Port of Świnoujście and the LNG propulsion system on the new ro-pax vessel ordered by ship operator on that route.

The investments aim at removing the bottlenecks in the Port of Ystad, and ensuring efficient, high capacity and environmentally friendly link between those two ports, capable to serve the growing trade exchange between Poland and Sweden and wider between Nordic and Central East Europe countries while decreasing SOx, NOx and CO2 emissions through LNG technology.
