The Action financed a set of two complementary studies for a railway track between the Core urban node of the city of Helsinki and city of Lohja, located in its wider urban network.

A general plan for this track was made as well as supplementary planning which will covered signalling systems, electrified track planning as well as the project appraisal and evaluation of its effects and externalities.

The Action enabled the benificiary to proceed with its decision making process for the railway line. The beneficiary is currently already implementing the construction of one section (extension of commuter train track in Espoo). The full construction of the railway line will resolve a missing link, increasing the connectivity and accessibility between the Core Network node and its urban area as well as enabling a modal shift to public transportation along this node.
