The Action aims at expanding and modernising the Port of Gdansk infrastructure to make it more accessible water-side and adapt it to the changing cargo handling structure and growing size of serviced ships.

The extension of the Port's internal fairway in width and in depth will improve the water-side accessibility for larger ships entering the intra-port part. The dredging of the fairway will assure the proper level of manoeuvring safety, reduce the navigation risk and increase navigation safety. Parameters such as time and service cost will improve, contributing to the port's competitive position. Along with this extension of the fairway, several quays will be modernised.

The outcome of the Action will contribute to the development of the TEN-T network and the elimination of the bottleneck by removing the physical and functional barrier of insufficient fairway depth that prevented the improvement in the port handling capacity. Navigation safety will be ensured, handling improved, boosting the efficiency and increasing the volume of the cargo handled in the port.
