Located on a pre-identified cross-border section between Hungary (Komarom) and Slovakia (Komarno), the Action aims to remove a crucial bottleneck on the Rhine-Danube Core Network Corridor caused by the existing Erzsébet Bridge. This bridge does not allow the circulation of freight vehicles heavier than 20 tons. Due to this restriction, heavy goods vehicles travelling from Hungary and Slovakia cannot access the ports across the border.

The Action is part of a Global Project to implement the Fairway Rehabilitation and Maintenance Danube Master Plan.

The Action encompasses several activities from land acquisition to the completion of the construction of the new road bridge. The new bridge clearance will be of 10 meters over the highest navigation water level, allowing navigation of vessels suitable for class VII waterways.

The works foreseen will have an important impact on the increase of inland waterway traffic.
