On Tuesday, 14th June 2005, the European Commission organises in Brussels a public hearing on an EU approach to managing economic migration, as a follow up of the Green Paper on economic migration. Among the issues to be discussed: the degree of harmonisation for a EU common migration policy, admission procedures for paid and self employment, the rights of the migrants workers, integration, return and cooperation with the countries of origin and transit. Mr. Franco Frattini, Vice-President of the EU Commission responsible for Justice, Freedom and Security, and Mr Vladimír Špidla, Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, will open the meeting.
The Hearing will take place at the Charlemagne Building, room S3, 170 rue de la Loi, 1040 Brussels.
