Prolongation of public consultation – have your say on EU Blue Card

The deadline for the public consultation on the "EU Blue Card" has been extended. The consultation is now open until 30 September 2015.

What is an EU Blue Card?

The Blue Card Directive provides a scheme for attracting highly qualified third-country nationals, but it is underused. The Commission is therefore carrying out a public consultation on the Blue Card Directive in order to improve the EU’s skilled labour migration policies.

Who can take part in the consultation?

The consultation invites stakeholders (migrants, employers, governmental organisations, trade unions, NGOs, employment agencies, etc.) to share their views on the EU Blue Card and the EU’s labour migration policies.

What are the questions?

The consultation aims to foster a debate and collect feedback on key issues such as:

  • What should the EU do to boost its attractiveness in the global competition for highly skilled workers?
  • How could the "EU Blue Card" scheme be improved?

What can be done to help businesses recruit the talent they need and at the same time maximise the contribution that migrants can bring to our societies?
