The Firearms Strategy: One year later

Friday, 24 October, 2014

The High Level Panel "The Firearms Strategy: One Year Later" has taken place today, featuring interventions from representatives of politicians, law enforcement agencies (including Europol), the European firearms industry and the hunting associations.

The High Level Panel followed the first Joint Committee between European Union Firearms Experts and South East Europe Countries Firearms Experts, that took place yesterday, in which the European firearms experts and their colleagues from the South-East European Countries adopted a joint Action Plan defining the operational outline of the cooperation in fighting the illicit trafficking in firearms between the EU and these neighboring countries.

The Panel is closing the political loop started in November 2012 with the Firearms Conference which marked the starting point for the strategy leading to the adoption of several initiatives by the Commission and the Council.
