Today the Commission adopted its fifth Schengen 'health check', a biannual overview on the functioning of the Schengen area. It covers the period from November 2013 to April 2014 and assesses in particular: the situation at the external Schengen borders, the application of Schengen rules and the visa issuance and security procedures.
