World Refugee Day

The United Nations' (UN) World Refugee Day is observed on June 20 each year, since 2001. This year's World Refugee Day comes as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the signature of the Geneva Convention, the cornerstone of the right to asylum in Europe and in the world. The EU has a crucial contribution to make to uphold the values of the Geneva Convention, in particular by ensuring an effective, fair and protective Common European Asylum System.
