Established in September 2020, after the fires in the Moria reception centre on the Greek island of Lesvos, the Task Force Migration Management works with the Greek authorities and EU agencies to improve conditions for migrants arriving to Greece. The Task Force was established based on an agreement between Greece and the European Commission. It is also supported by a group of Member States.

New showers and toilets are now installed at the temporary reception centre on Lesvos guaranteeing clean, safe water and sanitation to residents.
Opening of new reception centres on the Greek islands of Leros and Kos
27 November 2021 marked the opening of two new reception centres on the Greek islands of Leros and Kos. A €121 million grant from the European Commission was used for the construction of the two facilities, as well as the existing reception centre on Samos.
