Yesterday, the Commission awarded an additional €3 million in emergency assistance from the Internal Security Fund (ISF) to support Spain in responding to the recent increase in migratory pressure it faces. The assistance will mainly support the costs linked to the deployment of extra staff from the Guardia Civil to the southern borders of Spain.
The additional support now brings the total amount of emergency funding awarded to Spain since the end of June to €30 million, and will help the country address the migratory challenges it faces. This emergency assistance comes on top of the €691.7 million already allocated to Spain under its National Programmes for the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and the Internal Security Fund in the current multi-annual financial framework (2014-2020).
