About RAN

The RAN is a network of frontline practitioners who work daily with both those vulnerable to radicalisation and those who have already been radicalised.

Topics and Working Groups

RAN is structured around nine thematic Working Groups, driven by a Steering Committee (SC) chaired by the European Commission.


The RAN YOUNG Platform is open to the next generation of influential leaders, thinkers and doers in the field of prevention and countering of violent extremism (P/CVE).


The RAN papers consolidate RAN’s expertise and knowledge on radicalisation and violent extremism into an accessible format, providing up-to-date information.

Participant database

The Radicalisation Awareness Network (RAN) is a network of frontline or grassroots practitioners from around Europe. There are more than 3,200 RAN participants* from around the EU.

Collection of inspiring practices

As a practical, evolving and growing tool, the RAN Collection offers practitioners, policymakers and researchers the opportunity to draw inspiration from existing practices and to find examples adaptable to their local/specific context.

RAN Ambassadors

The main role of RAN Ambassadors is to engage, inspire and support national frontline practitioners working daily with both those at risk of radicalisation and those who have been radicalised.

RAN in the Western Balkans

The RAN in the Western Balkans project aims to support the prevention of radicalisation in the region and to enhance synergies between EU and Western Balkans professionals, in line with EU Policy.

Conferences and Webinars

RAN meetings and webinars comprise yearly events like the High-Level Conference, the Plenary and the European Remembrance Day for Victims of Terrorism.
