A health effect of excessive fluoride in bones leading to changes in bone structure which weaken the bone. It is seen in atreas with exceptionally high natural fluoride in drinking water.

The most severe skeletal fluorosis is known as "crippling skeletal fluorosis," and may show calcified ligaments, immobility, muscle wasting, and neurological problems related to spinal cord compression.
