Call for expression of interest for experts in ophthalmology in relation to the work on health effects of artificial light.
The European Commission has requested the Scientific Committee on Emerging
and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR) to assess the potential health
impacts caused by artificial light. More information on this request can be
found at the official mandate(17 KB) for this assessment.
The relevant SCENIHR working group has identified a need in the field of
ophthalmology. In line with the Rules
of procedure of the Scientific Committees(821 KB), a call for expression of
interest for experts in this topic is launched.
In particular, experts with relevant professional experience in the area of damage to the eye induced by optical radiation are invited to register to the database of experts according to the instructions provided. Expertise in cataract and/or retinal damage is required and experience on risk assessment issues would be an advantage.
The deadline for submission for this call for experts is 1 September 2010 (kindly note that the registration to the database of experts with regard to the general work of the Scientific Committees is permanently open). Applicants are requested to indicate "SCENIHR: Artificial Light - call for experts" in the subject title of the message sent with their application.
The successful candidate will be required to read and accept the conditions
for his/her membership in the working group, as explained in detailed in the Rules of procedure of the Scientific Committees(821 KB).
