On 18 April 2016, Germany became the 24th EU country to sign the Joint Procurement Agreement to procure medical countermeasures .
Due to the federal structure of Germany, the Agreement has to be signed by both, the federal government and by the Region/Land chairing the "Conference of the Health Ministers of the German regions/Länder".
