Today, the Commission sent an explanatory statement to Roche informing them about the closure of the infringement procedure taken against them for failure to meet certain obligations related to their marketing authorisations.
These rules clarify the measures that EU countries and economic operators need to enact to put in place the EU-wide tracking and tracing system for tobacco products foreseen under the Tobacco Products Directive (2014/40/EU), which aims to fight illicit tobacco trade (articles 15 and 16).

The kick-off meeting of the Joint Action on Tobacco Control (JATC) takes place today and tomorrow (12-13 December) in Athens, Greece. The JATC was set up in order to support the implementation of the EU Tobacco Products Directive, which lays down rules governing the manufacture, presentation and sale of tobacco and related products.
