8. Main Content
This Directive imposes obligations on a category of entities holding a gambling licence with the Malta Gaming Authority to adopt measures that would allow for the full implementation of the Authority's automated reporting system.

The Directive includes the data schema required in each report which needs to be generated by the licensed operators, the frequency, duration of storage, and the format in which the report needs to be saved.

9. Brief Statement of Grounds
The Directive follows upon an empowering provision found in Part XIII of the Gaming Authorisations and Compliance Directive which was previously notified under this same mechanism. The automated reporting system being implemented by the Malta Gaming Authority will enable the regulator to receive alerts about key events happening in a gaming device, as well as information which enables the regulator to better conduct its compliance and tax collection duties and objectives.

The data schema referred to in the Directive are the same as those being used as a baseline by CEN/TC 456 in the development of a European gambling reporting standard.
