07. Description of the measure The project aims to strengthen the competitiveness of companies in the floral sector by informing them about the advantages of selling sustainbly produced plants and flowers in their shops via the system Fair Flowers Fair Plants (FFP). The goal of the project is not only greater competitiveness, but also limiting the environmental burden of flower and plant production. Nowadays, about 70% of the flowers and plants are certified. The problem is that not even the florists know which are which. FFP should become the umbrella organisation for certifications that meet FFP-standards. Together we can market certified flowers and plants with FFP-certification.
08. Objectives After a course, participants know about the goals and purpose of FFP and can actively use them in their marketing. They know how FFP works in practice, and know which client groups they can inform about the possibility to buy certified flowers and plants.

09. Duration (dd/mm/yyyy)
Start Date 01/01/2009
End Date 31/12/2010
Other Information 2009 is a start-up year during which we develop courses and course material, and gather experience. We expect that 30-50 companies will participate in 2009, and 110-150 companies in 2010.
10. Target group The target group for this project are Swedish companies in the flower and plant sector. Consumers are an indirect target group because they have to be offered a choice and be convinced that it is important to buy certified flowers and plants. It is impossible for an individual florist to do this, we need to cooperate.

12. Why is this measure a success? Please give information on results and achievements. Thanks to more awareness and knowledge on certified flowers and plants for consumers we can predict that the trade in FFP certified flowers and plants will become standard in the floral sector and it will therefore eventually be paid for by the participants themselves. For the moment it is important the we give the trade in and awareness on certified flowers and plants a kick start and we are looking for funding for that purpose.
