    Description of activities:

        La Cirugía Torácica constituye una especialidad dedicada al estudio y tratamiento de los procesos que afectan al tórax tanto a su continente como a su contenido, es decir, pared torácica, pleura, pulmón, mediastino, árbol traqueo-bronquial, esófago y diafragma. Dichos procesos pueden tener un carácter congénito, inflamatorio, displásico, tumoral o traumático. Su campo de acción es la estructura anatomo-funcional del tórax, que se sustenta sobre bases etiopatogénicas, fisiopatológicas, clínicas y de metodología diagnóstica y quirúrgica, a excepción de la patología del corazón y grandes vasos. Por otro lado, hay que considerar incluida la patología de órganos situados en regiones limítrofes y cuyo compromiso patológico se traduce en repercusión torácica, tales como las afecciones cervicales y subdiafragmáticas.

    Translation(s):

    Thoracic surgery is a medical specialty which concerns the study and treatment of the conditions affecting the chest, both in terms of its content and its container, such as: chest wall, pleura, lung, mediastinum, respiratory tree, esophagus and diaphragm. These processes may have a congenital, inflammatory, dysplastic, tumoral or traumatic nature. Its scope is the anatomical-functional structure of the chest. It is based on etiopathogenic, pathophysiological, clinical bases and on diagnostic and surgical methods, except for the pathology of the heart and great vessels. Furthermore, the pathologies of the organs located in border regions must be included, as their pathological commitments result in thoracic implications, such as cervical and sub diaphragmatic diseases.
