    El médico especialista en bioquímica clínica desempeña un papel esencial en el diagnóstico y seguimiento de los pacientes. Se ocupa del estudio de los aspectos químicos de la vida humana en la salud y en la enfermedad, y en la aplicación de los métodos químicos y bioquímicos de laboratorio al diagnóstico, control del tratamiento, seguimiento, prevención e investigación de la enfermedad. Para este estudio la bioquímica clínica aplica los métodos, técnicas y procedimientos de la clínica y bioquímica analítica con el propósito de obtener la información útil para la prevención, diagnóstico, pronóstico y evolución de la enfermedad, así como de su respuesta al tratamiento.


    The physician specialist in clinic biochemistry plays an essential role to provide patients with the correct diagnosis and monitoring. The knowlegde of chemical particularities both in healthy and illness states, and also the qualification on chemical and biochemical technics and methods are useful to guarantee the correct diagnosis, monitoring, research and illness. Adequate knowledge and skills in clinic and analytic biochemistry procedures and methodology provide useful information valid to aim the previos indicated activities (diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment efficacy assessment during the disease).
