    Málari þekkir helstu eiginleika og verkan efna sem notuð eru við málun og gerir sér grein fyrir mögulegum hættum sem notkun þeirra felur í sér og umhverfisáhrifum sem þau geta haft. Hann þekkir og kann rétta beitingu allra helstu véla og verkfæra sem málarar nota við vinnu sína. Hann þekkir til öryggismála á vinnustað og hagar vinnu sinni þannig að heilsu og öryggi, eigin og annarra, stafi ekki hætta af. Hann getur ný- og endurmálað mismunandi steinefni inni og úti, þekkir til sandspörtlunar og hefur vald á framkvæmd hennar. Hann kann að gipsspartla og ný- og endurmála gipsplötur innanhúss og hefur vald á ný- og endurmálun viðar og annarra tréefna inni og úti.

    The holder of the qualification Is familiar with the main qualities and workings of materials used in painting, knows the correct handling of those and understands the possible dangers and environmental effects they may have. He/she is familiar with and knows the correct application of all major machines and tools that painters use in their work. He/she is familiar with safety precautions in the workplace and arranges his or her work in such a way that health and safety, of self and others, is not at risk. He/she can paint and re-paint various types of stone materials both indoors and outdoors, is familiar with sandfill and is capable of using it. He/she knows how to plaster, paint and re-paint plasterboard indoors and is capable of painting and re-painting wood and other wooden materials indoors and outdoors. (EN)
