    En fysioterapeut behandler og forebygger skader og sykdommer som gir smerte eller nedsatt funksjon i muskel- og skjelettsystemet. Som fysioterapeut gir du behandling som er basert på en grundig undersøkelse og vurdering av pasientens problem og hva pasienten selv ønsker hjelp til. Målet er at pasienten kan utvikle, gjenvinne eller holde ved like funksjonsevnen, utnytte egne ressurser og bidra aktivt i å bedre egen helse. Fysioterapeuter behandler enkeltpersoner i alle aldre, men kan også jobbe helsefremmende og forebyggende mot enkeltpersoner, grupper og på samfunnsnivå. Veiledning er en viktig del av arbeidet, både for å fremme helse og for å forebygge og behandle plager. Som fysioterapeut samarbeider du ofte med annet helsepersonell.

Physiotherapists treat individuals of all ages, but can also work health-promoting and preventive against individuals, groups and at a community level.
