Presentation of the measure:

Interreg North-West Europe (NWE) is a European Territorial Cooperation programme that aims to make North-West Europe a key economic area and attractive area to work and live, with high levels of innovation, sustainability and cohesion. The NWE programme is one of the instruments for implementation of the European Cohesion Policy, that aims to reduce disparities between the various regions in in North-West Europe.

The Interreg North-West Europe programme supports activities and pilots in the themes:

  • Strengthening innovation capacity of regions and organisations
  • Accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy
  • Efficient use of resources and materials.

Discussions on the North West Europe Programme 2021-2027 (future NWEP) are ongoing and focus on:

  • Policy Objective 1 (a smarter Europe by promoting innovative and smart economic transformation),
  • Policy Objective 2 (a greener, low-carbon Europe by promoting clean and fair energy transition, greenand blue investment, the circular economy, climate adaptation and risk prevention and management),
  • Policy Objective 5 (a Europe closer to citizens by fostering the sustainable and integrated developmentof urban, rural and coastal areas and local initiatives)
  • Interreg-specific objective (A better Interreg governance)
