The VI Regional Plan for Scientific Research and Technological Innovation 2016-2020 aims at positioning the Comunidad de Madrid (CM) as a reference for R&D at national and international level. Based on the RIS3, the Plan develops a strategy to achieve the regional RDI objectives up to the year 2020, through which will generate knowledge, wealth, employment and welfare for the society. It has been structure around three areas:
The Plan specifies a set of priority areas: nanotechnology, advanced materials, industrial technologies and space (including Industry 4.0); health, biotechnology, water and agro-food; energy, environment and transportation; and information and communication technologies. Along with these, it includes social sciences and humanities as the additional axis needed to cover the different areas of research in which the CM is a reference.
