Embedded in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania’s technology policy, this document presents successful collaborative projects and gives information on regional innovation and technology support.
The state’s technology policy particularly targets the improved use and exploitation of the regional science and research potentials through regional businesses. Innovation and technology policy pursues the philosophy to shape favourable framework conditions for future-oriented and attractive jobs through competitive products. In the 2007-2013 period, EU-funds amounted to a total budget of €155m (ERDF and ESF) for supporting research, development and innovation in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania. Until the end of 2012, €132.6m were approved for supporting 719 projects, thereof 321 collaborative research projects with a volume of €84.7m. In the 2014-2020 period, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the other East German federal state are classified as transition region and the promotion of R&D projects is related to the Regional Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart specialisation (see the Regional Innovation Strategy 2020).
As collaborative research projects receive a high focus in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, the document presents a range of successful project examples. The document also explains the new technology policy strategy and its twelve core areas.
