Technological Educational Institutes (TEI) are public law entities which belong in higher education. Their mission is to:

  • Provide theoretical and practical education in order for the graduates to possess adequate professional knowledge and skills;
  • Contribute to shaping responsible citizens which will be able to democratically contribute to the economic, social and cultural development of the country;
  • Implement the right of free education for every Greek citizen depending on his/her bents and Greek laws.

In this context, TEIs combine the development of appropriate theoretical studies background with high-level laboratory and practical training while perform mainly technological research and develop expertise and innovations in their respective professional fields.


The Technological Educational Institute of Sterea Ellada was established in 2013 pursuant to Presidential Decree No.100, following the merging of TEI of Lamia and TEI of Chalkida.

Concerning its educational role, TEI of Sterea Ellada is constituted of the following four schools (15 departments) which delimit its activities range:

  • School of Technological Applications;
  • School of Business and Economics;
  • School of Agriculture, Food Technology and Nutrition; and
  • School of Health and Welfare Professions.
During 2008-2012 the researchers of the Institute participated in 286 publications receiving 919 citations.

In TEI of Sterea Ellada operate also the following:

  • Employment and career centre; and
  • Liaison office.
