Mission
Smart Machines and Manufacturing  Competence Centre (SMACC) was established in December 2015 as VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and Tampere University of Technology joined forces in a strategic partnership. The partnership is built especially around intelligent machines competences in Tampere University of Technology and VTT's For Industry which focuses on intelligent machines and production. The practical work within the partnership takes place at the new Kampusareena building. The idea of SMACC is to strengthen the ecosystem development and to offer 'one-stop-shop' for utilisation of high level research competence in the region.  
Activities

SMACC offers services for SME`s in the field of machinery and manufacturing. The key features of SMACC include rapid solutions, cutting-edge research expertise and extensive partnership networks. SMACC covers a wide range of topics such as maintenance and life-cycle management, digital services, advanced digital manufacturing, digital design and modelling, digital quality management (Industrial Internet), additive manufacturing (3D printing) as well as automation and robotics. These topics are not carved in stone. On the contrary, they can be molded according to the needs of the industry.
