The National Innovation Agency (ANI)  is an intermediary body that is helping to shape  the alignment of R&D, innovation and technology-based entrepreneurship policies in the areas of science and economy.
ANI aims to promote the enhancement and transfer of knowledge, in particular through increased and better collaboration between enterprises and academia/RTD institutes.


ANI works closely with businesses, providing value to their innovation activities. This Agency is recognised as a key element in implementing actions to support the whole research and innovation system. ANI´s main activities are focused on:

  • Enhancing the transfer of knowledge to industry through increased and better links between businesses and other entities of the research and innovation system.
  • Increase the participation of entities of the national scientific and innovation system in international networks and this way increase the quality and international projection of their scientific and technological production.
  • Strengthen business investment in research and innovation activities (increasing private investment).
  • Promote, together with other entities, a favourable social environment for technology-based entrepreneurship and based on a culture of merit and risk.
