Mission

To generate and implement macro-economic policies for the development of the national economy. The ministry follows the government programme strategy in the field of industry, mineral resources, energy, trade, SMEs, cooperatives and the business sector, applying market economy principles and supporting economic agents' initiatives.

Activities

The Ministry deals with strategic policy making, regulation and implementation in the field of industry, mineral resources, energy, trade, SMEs, cooperatives and the business sector, supporting the internal market development and internationalisation for economic growth.  In addition, the ministry has a representation function in international fora and ensures Romania's compliance with European and international norms. The Ministry is also in charge of managing national and EU public funds.

Important activities of the Ministry have resulted in the National Strategy for Competitiveness 2014-2020 and the National Export Strategy 2014-2020. Support measures run by the Ministry include a support scheme for increasing the competitiveness of industrial products.
