The High Level Conference of the European Innovation Partnership (EIP) on Raw Materials was held on 13 January 2015 in Brussels. It was followed by a Brokerage event on the Raw Materials relevant topics of Horizon 2020 on 14 January 2015.
The annual conference aimed at presenting a comprehensive picture of developments in the fields covered by the EIP, regional approaches to raw materials and some concrete examples of "Raw Materials Commitments". The annual event, together with a poster session to present ongoing commitments and the Horizon 2020 brokerage event, also sought to provide a platform for networking to discuss experiences and possible future commitments.
Following the adoption of the Strategic Implementation Plan (SIP) in September 2013, a milestone of the EIP on Raw Materials was reached on 7 April 2014 with the announcement of the first set of commitments by over 700 companies, public agencies, research institutes, non-governmental organisations and other stakeholders from all over Europe. These partners have all committed to contribute in one way or the other to fostering technological and non-technological innovation in Europe’s raw materials value chains. The call for commitments launched by the European Commission in October 2013 resulted in a total of 80 commitments that will shape innovation in Europe in the coming years for metallic, mineral and forest-based raw materials. The EIP partners are now implementing the actions identified in the SIP and the related Raw Materials Commitments.
Several thematic sessions were held during the first day and a poster session was organised to present ongoing commitments. The following day, the brokerage event on Horizon 2020 provided stakeholders with the opportunity to meet potential partners for future projects and obtain information on funding possibilities in the scope of Horizon 2020.
