The EESC, Euromines, Eurocoal and IndustriALL bring together in 2016 national and regional governments in 5 countries (Portugal, Ireland, Poland, Sweden and Czech repoublic ) to discuss the implementation of the Raw Materials intiative and the EIP on Raw Materials. the objective is to identify issues and obstacles and opportunities to use the raw materials sector and its down-stream industries to generate growth and employment.
The national and/or regional mineral policies and their status as well as their relevance for the whole supply chain are in the focus. At the same time the dialogue stimualtes higher awareness fo raw matieral issues for the general economic development of the countries concerned.
The objective of the industrial roundtables is to increase the dialogue between that variosu stakehodlers of the supply chain as well as with government and civil society and to address issues of concerns on all sides that are hindering the successful implementation of the Raw Materials Initative and the EIP on Raw Materials.
5 Industrial Roundtables with approximately 40 people each will be held in the 5 countries (Portugal, Ireland, Poland, Sweden, Czech Republic).
The organiser at European and national level will idenfity key topics for discussion in each country and the meetings will be followed with a publication on the outcome of the debate.
The dialogue will strengthern the understanding of the importance and the varied issues around raw material supply at the same time. It will allow for referring to other best practices known in the EU and outside of the EU and will hopefully stimulate change and improvements in the policies, the legislation and the cooperation of various parts of national governments.
