Photonics encompasses technologies working to harness and generate light, and the concept is applied across several different industries, ranging from healthcare to transportation.
The EPRISE Consortium (Empowering Photonics through Regional Innovation Strategies in Europe) is a European initiative which aims to bring together SMEs and give them solutions on how to overcome market barriers via dedicated photonics workshops. The workshops are complemented by an annual European photonics forum, which this year will be held on 8th and 9th March 2018 in the Museum of Fine Arts/Musées Royaux des Beaux Arts and the Bluepoint Conference Centre in Brussels. This year’s forum, entitled “Winning the future - Europe’s age of light”, will focus on preparing for the implementation of the new EU framework programme, and look at the strategic development of the Photonics Public Private Partnership.
As part of the event a photonics industry roadmap will be discussed, and will be complemented by high level talks on Digitisation and the Internet of Things from a global perspective, as well as insights into where Industry 4.0 and Augmented Reality stand today.
